Message from the Dean

Dear fellow chapter members,

My ten year tenure on the board now draws to a close. It has been an honor and privilege to serve the AGO and I am especially proud to have served the last two years as your Dean.

I would like to thank the officers of the chapter for their collegiality, support, and most of all for their friendship. Frank, Eric, Tony, and Elizabeth have brought with them the highest degree of excellence, professionalism and attention to detail. All four have renewed their commitments into the next term which will provide a strong continuity.

My thanks also to the chapter's retiring board members Sean Jackson, Barry Kloda, Jeffrey Lake, Mark Peterson (continuing on as POE Director), Yvonne Sonnenwald, and Nancy Wertsch for their four years of  devoted service to the chapter. We welcome our new Dean Frank Crosio, Sub-Dean Robert McCormick, and the Class of 2010 Tina Frühauf, Mary Huff, Walter Klauss, Robert McDermitt, Paul Murray, and Rev. Victoria Sirota. What an exciting combination of talented people to lead us over the next few years!

It has been my hope during my tenure that more members would participate in chapter events and become more involved with the various committees and endeavors of our chapter. It is rewarding to see this happening, and I want to encourage you to continue to become involved in what ever ways you can. We all know that the AGO is a volunteer organization, and the more we participate the more vibrant the organization becomes.

I look forward to seeing many of you on the dinner cruise on Monday evening June 5, where you can greet both the outgoing and incoming officers and board members, and enjoy a great evening of camaraderie while we view the spectacular New York skyline from the Harbor.

I wish you all the best in your musical endeavors.

Sincerely,
Christopher Creaghan

From the Registrar

To date (April 15), we have 483 members of the NYC Chapter.
New members since last month are:
Emanuel Meli (O/C in Scarsdale, NY)
Ben E. Rauch (C/D/M/DM/O at St. Jacobus Evangelical Lutheran Church, Woodside, NY)
Mary C. Nelson (Monroe, CT)

Renewal time is beginning again!

All members of the NYC Chapter should have received their renewal letters with the remittance forms by now.  It may seem early, but May and June are our renewal period, and we want everyone to plan for their renewal payment and have the means to renew before summer takes our minds off of it!  We also want to encourage those who did not renew last season to come back to the guild as part of the "Each One Reach One" campaign.  For those who paid their dues late this advance notice should help us all plan to pay our dues on time (and we did have quite a few this past season: 190 out of the 483 paid their dues after July 1!).  PLEASE NOTE: Incomplete renewal submissions (forms and checks) will be returned, and therefore delay your renewal.

All Guild members must provide:

1.  Directory information completely filled out ("same as last year" will not be accepted).  [Please state your degree(s) as conferred:"Bachelor's" or "Master's" is not a degree; please use BA, BM, BS, M..., etc.]  The address you list for the directory should be the same as where you have the magazine delivered, and where you want communication from the chapter to be directed. The information you provide will be printed in the next directory (published Feb., 2007), unless you ask otherwise.

2.  Correct category of dues payment included as check or money order (and, if applicable, student ID copy, or some other proof of full-time student status as of Sept., 2006 for the 2006-07 school year).

3.  Signature at the bottom of the form agreeing to abide by the Code of Ethics.

Thanks for your help in keeping our membership records complete.
