On September 27, 1915, Cardinal Mundelein laid the cornerstone for a new church, designed by Raymond R. Almirall in an Italianate style.

In 1973, the church was closed and absorbed into St. Peter Claver Church. The building was subsequently purchased by the Elim International Fellowship, a full-gospel pentecostal congregation.
