Judson Memorial Baptist Church, Judson Hall and the 165-foot high Campanile were built between 1888-1893, as designed by Stanford White of McKim, Mead & White. Originally, the tower housed orphans and the adjoining Judson Hotel provided income for the church. The style of the church is an eclectic mix of Byzantine, Romanesque and Renaissance forms, sometimes called Lombardo-Romanesque. John La Farge designed the terra cotta, brick and stained glass windows, and Herbert Adams did a relief for the chancel. John D. Rockefeller, Sr. was the chief benefactor in the 1880s and 1890s, who made its construction possible.
