Aeolian Company
New York City – Opus 753 (1894)
Electro-pneumatic action
2 manuals, 12 stops, 11 ranks
"As shown in photograph, this organ is divided into two sections, one on either side of the parlor, each section taking up space seven feet wide, four feet deep, and elevent feet high. Console containing keyboards, combined with Aeolian mechanism, is situated at a distance from the organ. Bellows of the instrument is placed in the cellar and operated by an electric motor. Case is of a very handsome design, lower part being solid mahogany and upper structure white-enameled woodwork, surmounted by symmetrically arranged groups and towers of display pipes decorated in gold leaf. This plan of installing the organ is certainly unique and shows what can be done in existing residences by installing an Aeolian Pipe-organ conveniently without its appearing uncomfortable or unwieldy, as it would if constructed in one section in present instance." |
