The Community Church of Douglaston began as a Sunday School in 1919. Two years later, in 1921, the society was organized as a congregation of the Reformed Church in America. The present Georgian-style building was opened in 1925.

In 2010, the Peragallo Pipe Organ Company rebuilt the 1968 Austin organ, adding many digital ranks and a movable three-manual drawknob console. The instrument is known as the Ralph and Alice Greenlaw Memorial Organ, and the Gallery Organ was given in memory of Meena Kitson.
