II/10 Henry Pilcher's Sons, Op. 1514 (1930)

The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Flushing was organized sometime in the early 1900s. A Federalist-style brick edifice was erected on Sanford Avenue, east of Parsons Boulevard, that had a seating capacity of a little over 500 in the main auditorium and balcony. In the basement was the Sunday School with an auditorium approximately the same size as the main auditorium above it, plus three adjacent classrooms and superintendent's room. The completed edifice was opened for Sunday services on May 18, 1930.

In 1995, the society sold its Sanford Avenue edifice and property to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The proceeds were used to construct a smaller facility on Bayside Avenue near 146th Street. Designed by the architectual firm of Larson and Paul of New York City, in partnership with Tarek Ashkar, the brick structure includes a contemplative sanctuary, offices and a Reading Room.
