Organs present and past in the five boroughs of New York City
Acknowledgments and Sources

| The indexes of organs were compiled from a variety of sources, including, but not limited to, books and periodicals, organ journals, published opus lists, and online resources. Most of the Project's webpages created thus far include a "Sources" box that contains specific bibliographic references.
Special thanks and appreciation go to Jonathan Bowen, of Philadelphia, and Jeff Scofield, of Chattanooga, Tenn. Jonathan periodically raids the Archives of the Organ Historical Society in Princeton, N.J., and copies anything pertaining to organs in New York City. Jeff Scofield, who is website manager of the Aeolian-Skinner Archives, was the first person outside of New York to let me know that he had information that I could probably use. Since then, Jeff has graciously shared his extensive files of organ specifications and photos. Allen Kinzey (Tucson, Ariz.) and Sand Lawn (Monroe, La.), compilers of the E.M. Skinner/Aeolian-Skinner Opus List (pub. Organ Historical Society), have been very generous in sharing their records. Sand has also provided copies of organ builders' opus lists he compiled over the years, after they were reformatted and electronically sent by David Scribner (Little Rock, Ark). George Nelson (Seattle, Wa.) has extracted the New York City records—nearly 5000 in all—from his "Organs in the United States and Canada Database." Jim Lewis (Pasadena, CA) has also shared his files and photographs, including many Aeolian organs. Many others have contributed stoplists and photos, and are acknowledged on individual webpages for those instruments. All of these colleagues have a very special interest in the organ; without their help and assistance, the New York City Organ Project could not have grown so quickly.
We have all of the factory specifications from Casavant Frères, Ltée., thanks to Stanley Scheer, Vice President Emeritus. Phil Stimmel and John Carnahan have sent all extant Shop Orders from the Estey Organ Company. Christopher Leaver from the Reuter Organ Company provided specifications of all organs by that firm in New York City. Thanks also to Edward Odell (J.H. & C.S. Odell), Sebastian Glück (Glück Orgelbau), Anthony Meloni (Meloni & Farrier Organbuilders), and one colleague who prefers to remain anonymous, for sending specifications from their files. Special thanks to Larry Trupiano (Mann & Trupiano, Brooklyn) who is systematically scanning and sending his voluminous files for the project.
Thank you to area organists who have typed the stoplists of organs at their places of employment, and to the staff at various venues who have unlocked organ lofts and consoles, and turned on the lights. One church secretary brought several old programs to the organ gallery as I was taking photographs. She said, "Well, we kept all this stuff over the years knowing that someone, someday would want to see it. And that would be you!"
