Message from the Dean
Dear Colleagues:
Our next chapter event will take place on Monday evening, April 7th at 7:30pm. It will be a master class given by Dr. Martin Jean, who is Associate Professor of Organ at the Yale School of Music and Director of the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. Prior to assuming his position at Yale, he served as Associate Professor of Music and University Organist at Valparaiso University in Indiana and as Associate Professor of Music at Concordia College in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
This event will take place at the Interchurch Center – 475 Riverside Dr. (Riverside Dr. at 120th Street) and our host will be Dr. Christopher Johnson. Featured will be the new organ built for the Interchurch center by Orgelbau Klais Bonn, Germany – Opus 1851 (2007) 3 manuals, 22 stops, 29 ranks. This will be the first NYC chapter event to utilize this exciting new addition to our city’s long and impressive catalogue of world-class instuments.
The master class participants and repertory will be:
Prelude and Fugue in E minor, BWV 548 – J.S. Bach
Noah Wynne-Morton
Praeludium in D minor, BuxWV 140 – Buxtehude
Paul Murray
Vater unser im Himmelreich (ornamented chorale) – Böhm
Douglas Keilitz
Please plan to join us for what promises to be a most exciting evening!
Please read this e-newletter carefully as it contains important information about chapter elections and dues renewal. And, if you haven’t already done so, please plan to join AGO colleagues from near and far at our national convention in the Twin Cities this June!
With All Good Wishes,
Frank L Crosio, FAGO
