Message from the Dean Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the 2008 – 2009 Program Year! September is the time when most church, synagogue, and academic programs swing back into high gear. For the AGO, it also the time when our celebration of the International Year of the Organ continues after its official beginning at the Twin Cities National Convention. The NYC Chapter joins other AGO chapters across the country in sponsoring Organ Spectacular concerts on October 19th. A complete listing of the concerts can be found on the AGO National website.
The New York City Chapter's Organ Spectacular will take place at the Church of the Heavenly Rest, Fifth Avenue at 90th Street at 7:30pm. Chapter members will perform solo literature, works for four hands and four feet, music for organ and other instruments, an improvisation, hymnody, and two new pieces specially commissioned for the Organ Spectacular. Performers include: Frank L. Crosio, Brian Harlow, Christopher Jennings, Nancianne Parrella, Jorge Avila and Tori Drake, Robert Ridgell, Anthony Rispo, and McNeil Robinson.
Because of this national event’s proximity to the Columbus Day weekend when we have traditionally held our Organ and Architecture tour, the Program Committee has decided not to organize a tour this fall.
The complete listing of the offerings for the Program Year can be found on the chapter website www.nycago.org. Please visit the site and mark your calendars so we can see you at many of these events!
With All Good Wishes,
Frank L Crosio, FAGO
