Message from the Dean

Dear Members,

Our twin April events were both great successes! Oliver Latry gave an inspiring master class and performed an outstanding recital at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola. Many thanks are due to Kent Tritle and the Music Staff at St. Ignatius, Paul Murray and the Chapter Program Committee, and Renee Louprette and the Performer of the Year Sub-Committee for putting these two exciting programs together. Thanks are also due to the students who played in the master class for their hard work and preparation. M. Latry was presented with the New York City chapter 2009 Performer of the Year award at a reception following the recital.

Our chapter level RCYO (Regional Competition for Young Organists) took place on March 21st at Madison Ave. Presbyterian Church. The first place winner was John Walthausen. The second place winner was James Wetzel. Judges were Andrew Henderson, Richard Hescke, and Gregory Eaton. The first place winner, John Walthausen, will compete in the combined Region I – Region II convention in Boston this summer. While we’re on the subject, if you’re not already registered for this summer’s convention, please visit the convention website (www.agoboston2009.com) and consider joining us in Boston. Many thanks to our chapter competition coordinator, Dr. John King.

Please note the details for our June 1st Organ Demonstration and End of the Year Banquet. The cost of the dinner is $35 and reservations are required. Please make your reservations with Paul Murray no later than May 15th.

With All Good Wishes,

Bach to Brooklyn Tour Cancellation Notice

Dear Friends,

We regret to inform you that our Bach to Brooklyn Tour for this year has had to be canceled. This comes about as a result of logistical/scheduling problems which have arisen at four out of the five churches we had planned to visit. We are very sorry to have to do this, but it is necessary. We look forward to a smashing trip next year, 2010!

Those of you who have already sent in your registration will have your money refunded.

Thank you for understanding, and look for the Brooklyn Chapter's programs in the coming year.

Sincerely,
Jonathan Hall, Dean
Gregory Eaton, Sub-Dean

From the Registrar

Dues renewal forms will be sent out on or about May 15. There is a slight increase in the dues for all categories (dues are set by the national office) and we hope this will not be an inconvenience. We look forward to receiving your renewals and to another fine year with the NYCAGO. Have a great summer!

Paul Sanner
Registrar
