141 Hendrix Street, near Fulton Street
Brooklyn, N.Y. 11233

Christ Baptist Church of East New York was organized in 1863 as the First Baptist Church of East New York. In 1867 construction began on a permanent building, located on Hendrix Street near Fulton Street, but the edifice was not completed until 1871. At an unknown time the congregation changed its name to Christ Baptist Church.

This congregation is no longer in existence. The building is now owned by the Mount Hope United Holy Church.

The following stoplist is from an "Organ Notebook" kept by Charles Scharpeger, an organ serviceman in the area. Scharpeger visited this church on February 13, 1948. He did not indicate the opus number, and an organ for this church does not appear on the Estey Opus List, so it can be assumed the organ was acquired second-hand.
