The Parkway Theatre on 20th Avenue opened in 1922. Originally seating 701, its capacity was reduced to 595 seats in 1928 after alterations designed by J. Lubroth, architect. In 1937 the name was changed to Metro Theatre. The Metro closed in 1953 and became a supermarket.
