Bronx Baptist Church

The Bronx Baptist Church began in the summer of 1964, at first meeting
in an apartment, and then in a two-family house at 2024 Honeywell Avenue
that was purchased by the Baptist Home Mission Board. On Thursday,
November 6, 1964, the Bronx Baptist Chapel was dedicated to the glory
of God in a memorable service of praise and thanksgiving. Over the
next few years the congregation and Sunday school increased in numbers,
and a search began for a larger church facility.
In 1970, the congregation
moved to their present location on East 187th Street, purchasing the
former Bethlehem Congregational Church. |

This three-rank unit organ was built by the Estey Organ Company for the Bethlehem Congregational Church. It had a detached console with celluloid keys, and an oak finish on birch. The organ was voiced on 4" wind pressure. The status of this organ in 2008 is unknown. |
