The Metro Theatre was built for the Consolidated Theatres chain and opened on October 20, 1927. Designed by Israel Crausman, the Metro seated 1,450 and had no balcony. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, the Metro was operated by the Cinema Circuit Corp. chain until it closed in May 1952.

The organ in the Metro Theatre was built in 1927 by Geo. Kilgen & Son of St. Louis. It was Kilgen's Style UO13, and cost $6,966.
