Our Lady of Grace Church was organized by Father Victor Bassi in May 1924 to serve Italian Catholics in the area. For the first year, Father Bassi held Masses in two rented stores on White Plains Road near 227th Street until the first church building was dedicated on October 11, 1925. In the 1960s Monsignor Bonaventure Fillitti made plans to erect a new church but he died before his dream could be fulfilled. The present church, completed by Monsignor John Rettagliata, was dedicated by Cardinal Cooke on May 26, 1968.

The 1952 Aeolian-Skinner organ, acquired by the church in 1981, was revised and enlarged sometime in the late 1990s. In the Swell division, the Aeoline was replaced by the Choir Sesquialtera, and a Vox Humana was added, using the Swell Tremolo knob. In the Choir, an Unda Maris took the place of the removed Sesquialtera, and the lowest rank of the III-rank Plein Jeu was used as a 2' Principal, using the Choir Tremolo knob. The Swell and Choir Tremolos are now activated by square red buttons that replaced the manual to pedal reversible pistons for those divisions.

This organ was originally built in 1931 by the Skinner Organ Company for St. George Episcopal Church in Schenectady, N.Y. In 1952, the organ was revised by the Aeolian-Skinner Company as Opus 868-A.

In 1981, the organ became available and was acquired through the efforts of Thomas M. Fierro, Director of Music at Our Lady of Grace Church. Mr. Fierro and members of the church moved the organ.

The organ was altered and enlarged in the late 1990s. See the above entry for revised specifications.
