Chelsea Theatre

The 750-seat Chelsea Theatre opened sometime around 1919. It was located on the east side of Eighth Avenue between 26th and 27th Streets, site of the former Miner's Eighth Avenue Theatre that burned in 1903. |

On June 1, 1923, The Yoost Photo Play Theatre Co., Inc. (841 Ninth Avenue) signed an Agreement of Lease with the M.P. Möller Company for two identical two-manual, seven-rank theatre organs. Opus 3745 was to be installed in the Chelsea Theatre, and Opus 3746 was for the Superior Theatre, located at 443-447 Third Avenue at 81st Street.
