Faith Presbyterian Church was organized in 1883 as an outgrowth of Faith Chapel, a mission of West Presbyterian Church that had been established in 1872 and was located at 423 West 46th Street. On May 9, 1897, the congregation opened their new home at 359 West 48th Street, east of Ninth Avenue, the former Fourth Reformed Church. In 1920, Faith Presbyterian merged with and moved to Good Shepherd Presbyterian, at 152 West 66th Street, and became known as Good Shepherd-Faith Presbyterian Church. |

Mechanical action
2 manuals, 21 stops, 23 ranks
The organ in Faith Presbyterian Church was built in 1897 by Fred E. Raynor & Co., of Port Jefferson, N.Y. Very little is known about Fred E. Raynor other than he was born on July 4, 1863 in Port Jefferson, worked with the Estey Organ Company of Brattleboro, Vt., and died in 1903 in Port Jefferson. The following specification is from The Organist and Choirmaster (Apr. 15, 1897), a bi-monthly periodical published in London, with the note, "All the stops of full compass and pedals, 30 notes." Since Mr. Raynor had worked with Estey, the 61-note compass is suggested. |
