The present Chapel of Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church was built in 1925 as part of a 10-story Church House, replacing the original Church Annex and Lecture Room.

The present organ in the chapel was built in 1970 by Austin Organs Inc., of Hartford, Conn. Austin installed the organ in the existing chamber behind the gallery along the east wall. Exposed pipes of the Great and Pedal divisions are on a cantilevered chest in front of the chamber. The two-manual stopkey console is on the gallery floor.

The first organ in the present chapel was built in 1925 by the Skinner Organ Company of Boston. Skinner installed the organ in a chamber behind the side gallery; the console was located in the gallery.

This organ was replaced in 1970 by the current Austin organ.
