The Chantry of Grace Church was designed by Edward T. Potter and built in 1879. Originally used to house the Sunday School and choir, this small chapel was financed by philanthropist Catharine Lorillard Wolfe. The chapel was altered in 1910 by architect William W. Renwick, a nephew of James Renwick, Jr.

Facade of Hilborne L. Roosevelt Organ, Op. 28 (1876) in the Chantry of Grace Episcopal Church - New York City (John Rust)

Ernest M. Skinner Company
Boston, Mass. – Opus 152 (1907)
Electro-pneumatic action
2 manuals, 15 stops, 9 ranks

In 1907, the Ernest M. Skinner Company rebuilt the 1876 Roosevelt organ in the Chantry. The organ was installed in a newly constructed shallow chamber with the Swell below the opening and the Great and Pedal above and behind the opening. Skinner retained the Roosevelt case as a facade above the two-manual console that was built into the case. It seems likely that Skinner replaced the original windchests with his company's electro-pneumatic chests.
