New York Penitentiary
Blackwell's Island
New York, N.Y. 10044
Originally known as Blackwell's Island, the name was
changed to Welfare Island in 1921, and was renamed Roosevelt Island
in 1973.
The penitentiary
was closed
and moved to Rikers Island in 1936 |
