Aeolian-Skinner Organ Co., Inc.
Boston, Mass. – Opus 1128 (1947)
Electro-pneumatic action
2 manuals, 8 stops, 8 ranks, 401 pipes

This Aeolian-Skinner organ was originally installed in Room 424 of the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, N.Y., where it was used as a practice instrument. Students and faculty referred to this organ as the "Trumpet Skinner" to distinguish it from the "Mixture Skinner" (Op. 1129) in Room 417. The two practice organs were identical except that Op. 1128 had a drawknob labeled "Trompette" (which was actually an 8' Hautbois) while Op. 1129 had a II-III rank Plein Jeu instead of the "Trompette" stop. Click here to see the original stoplist of Op. 1129.

When Op. 1128 became available, Dr. Allen arranged for the organbuilding firm of Lewis & Hitchcock to remove the organ and restore it in their Washington, D.C. shop. In 2006-07, the organ was reinstalled in Dr. Allen's duplex apartment at Grace Church, where he serves as Organist and Master of Choristers. The two-manual drawknob console is located below the stairway in the living room, while the pipes occupy a small bedroom on the floor above.
