The Roosevelt Theatre opened in 1920 and had 1450 seats. A bust relief of Theodore Roosevelt is featured in the facade. It was at the Roosevelt that Thomas 'Fats' Waller won an amateur night contest playing James P. Johnson's "Carolina Shout". Today, the theatre is occupied by a supermarket. |
