The Hollis Presbyterian Church was founded in 1922 by Dr. Frederick Todd Steele after receiving permission from the Presbytery of Brooklyn-Nassau to establish a Sabbath school in the Hollis area. Five adults and two children attended the first service which was held on January 15, 1922 in a chapel of the Jamaica Reformed Church that was located near Jamaica Avenue and 189th Street. The present building dates from about 1927.

About 1996, the pipe organ was removed and an Allen electronic organ was installed. Specifications of this organ have not yet been located.

In 1959, the Midmer-Losh Company rebuilt the existing Estey Organ, Op. 2612, providing a new Reisner console. This organ was sold for parts in 1996.

The Factory Shop Order for Estey Organ, Op. 2612 shows that this organ had a two-manual tablet console with celluloid keys. Estey provided 77 sq. feet of case and bronzed display pipes. In the "Details of voicing" area was the instruction to "Voice the Swell Organ loud, as the pipes are in a crowded position, and the tone is quite likely to be muffled. Voice the Great and Pedal regular." This organ was voiced on 6" wind pressure.
