The congregation known today as Springfield Gardens United Methodist Church was established in 1867 as the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Springfield, L.I. In 1927, the name of the town was changed to Springfield Gardens, coinciding with the name of a housing development begun in 1906, and the new Springfield Gardens station of the Long Island Rail Road.

Tubular-pneumatic action
2 manuals, 16 stops, 15 ranks

The following specifications were recorded in 1957 by Louis F. Mohr & Co., an organ service concern in the area. Mohr notes that the organ had tubular action and a detatched console. An entry in the Midmer Ledger Book (Dec. 1, 1911) shows that the organ cost $2,800. This organ has been removed but the facade with bronze display pipes remains.
