Founded in 1930, the Roman Catholic parish of St. Clare is located on the corner of 45th Street and 21st Avenue in Astoria, Queens. The church building is wooden and has survived several fires over the years.

The present organ in St. Francis of Assisi Church is an electronic instrument manufactured in 2008 by Johannus Organs of Ede, The Netherlands, replacing the previous electronic instrument that was damaged by lightning.

In 1996, the Möller pipe organ was replaced with a two-manual electronic instrument manufactured by Ahlborn-Galanti Organs of Bensenville, Illinois. This organ was damaged by lightning and replaced in 2008.

The Factory Specifications (May 6, 1931) show that the organ built for St. Francis of Assisi would be completed by June 15, 1931. Möller provided a detached stop key console, and a case with front pipes decorated in gold bronze. All pipes were in one expression chamber and were voiced on 5" wind pressure.

This organ was gutted in 1996 but parts remain, including the front display pipes.
