St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church

Cary (Travis) Avenue and Caroline Street
West New Brighton, Staten Island, N.Y. 10310

St. Paul's German Evangelical Lutheran Church was founded in 1899 by a group of German-speaking families in West Brighton. In 1900, the members erected a church building on the corner of Cary Avenue and Caroline Street. Built at a cost of $7,000, the Colonial-style edifice was constructed of rock faced brick, and measured 42 feet in width and 72 feet in length. The interior provided seating for three hundred, and was handsomely furnished with windows of colored Cathedral glass and pews of highly polished oak. The church was dedicated on Sunday afternoon, August 26, 1900.

By 1971, the membership had declined and the congregation voted to merge with St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Port Richmond, becoming St. Paul's/St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
