Donald R. Meineke

Donald R. Meineke Donald maintains an active career as a free lance recitalist, lecturer, conductor, and singer performing with local, national, and international ensembles. Donald served as Cantor of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity where he oversaw the musical life of the Parish, conducted the Holy Trinity Parish Choir, curated an extensive concert series, and was Artistic Director of Bach Vespers featuring the renowned, twice–Grammy nominated Bach Choir and Players. His 2017 “Jubilus Bernhardi” album release of Samuel Capricornus’ collection is the first complete recording of the work and received national and international acclaim.

In addition to his work at Holy Trinity, Donald served as the Co–Director of the critically acclaimed Early Music Festival: NYC and is co–founder and Artistic Director of Ensemble VIII in Austin, TX (www.ensembleviii.org). He has served as assistant chorus master for Helmuth Rilling with the International Bachakademie in Stuttgart, Germany, preparing Mozart’s Mass in C minor in multiple cities throughout Venezuela and Bach’s B minor Mass and Passions throughout Germany and Italy. A passionate teacher, Donald has presented master classes and workshops at the regional and national levels on topics ranging from organ improvisation, chant, choral techniques, early music, and historical liturgical practices.

Donald has held posts in Austin, TX; Worcester, Massachusetts; Chicago, Illinois; and served on the Worship and Music staff at the Churchwide Offices of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in Chicago.

Donald holds degrees from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and advance degrees from The University of Texas at Austin.
