J. David Williams

J. David Williams is a Tennessee native and his first organist position was at age 15. He attended Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, and Memphis State University. Later David received my Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where he studied organ with David Mulbury and Roberta Gary. Subsequently, he relocated to New York City and took up study for a Master of Music degree at The Juilliard School, studying organ and improvisation with Gerre and Judy Hancock. He continued at the Manhattan School of Music for the Doctor of Musical Arts in organ where he studied performance with John Walker and improvisation with McNeil Robinson. At present, he is Director of Music and Organist at The Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn and Organist/Pianist/Music Director at Congregation Rodeph Sholom, Manhattan. He served on the NYC AGO board in the late 1980s and the Brooklyn AGO chapter board from 2005-2007.
